Frequently Asked Questions

What is AMIE? How is it organized?

AMIE is a Erasmus MC broad program in which molecular imaging researchers work together. The AMIE program was initiated by a mandate from the Board of Directors in May 2005. It is the intention of AMIE to facilitate MI research by providing imaging instrumentation and expertise, organizing symposia & workshops, and networking.AMIE is governed by a Steering Committee.

In October 2006, the members of this Steering Committee were:

  • Gerard Borst, MD, PhD (Neurosciences)
  • Jan Hoeijmakers, PhD (Genetics)
  • Erik Krenning, MD, PhD (Nuclear Medicine)
  • Gabriel Krestin, MD, PhD (Radiology, Chair)
  • Peter Sonneveld, MD, PhD (Hematology)
  • Peter Sillevis-Smitt, MD, PhD (Neurology)

The Steering Committee is advised by:

  • Martje Fentener van Vlissingen, PhD (EDC)
  • Myriam Hunink, MD, PhD (mRACE)
  • Ted Young, PhD (TU Delft)
  • Gerwin Puppels, MD, PhD (CODT)
  • Marion de Jong (AIF Business Plan subcommittee)
  • Ceciel van Hemel (Communication subcommittee)

How can I join AMIE?

Joining isn’t necessary. All Erasmus MC researchers are welcome to participate in AMIE activities and use the AMIE facilities.

How do I contact AMIE?

AMIE is available at AMIE@erasmusmc.nl

What imaging modalities are available?

See instrumentation

How do I get access to the special imaging facilities?

In order to use the imaging facilities, you need to register online for the booking system. You will need to be certified as competent for each piece of equipment before you will be able to book it. The booking system gives specific instructions on who to contact for training and/or certification for each piece of equipment.

How much will participating in AMIE cost me?

Nothing. AMIE is funded by the Erasmus MC to fulfill its organizational and support functions.  However, if you choose to make use of the AIF, your support, training, and usage time for imaging equipment use will be billed to you.

Actually, I really just wanted to talk to someone knowledgeable to get some advice about how to apply Molecular Imaging techniques to my research.

For advice on using molecular imaging within your own research, please contact the steering committee at AMIE@erasmusmc.nl, who will bring you into contact with appropriate researchers, usually via the Animal Imaging Facility. Alternatively, if you are already interested in specific techniques, you can look up a researcher specializing in those techniques using our “Meeting Point” and contact him/her directly.

AMIE is a great idea. I would really like to help out and also have my say in the direction the AMIE takes. What can I do?

Contact the AMIE steering committee at AMIE@erasmusmc.nl. We are always looking for interested, enthusiastic volunteers to help organize the myriad activities and/or serve on one of the committees
