Introduction
COEUR was officially accredited by the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Science (KNAW) in 2003 and again in July 2009.
COEUR offers PhD candidates a research and education program tailored towards their individual requirements
This program aims to develop their knowledge and skills such that they will become independent researchers, and should additionally provide them with a sound and broad basis for their future professional career.
PhD candidates fill out an individual PhD Training Plan together with their supervisor. Ultimo 2010 a total of 190 PhD ndidates were registered.
Of these, 30 were also listed as clinician. This latter group mainly consists of medical specialists who perform their research in addition to their clinical activities. The activities of the other PhD candidates are usually entirely research oriented and their PhD trajectory typically is the beginning of their professional career.
