Objectives of the workshop:

• Propagate the Bayesian thinking in general and in particular in the pharmaceutical industry
• Provide short courses in Bayesian methodology
• Learn with applied case studies (Clinical, non-clinical, CMC, ...)
• Emphasize the advantages of Bayesian modeling for science and for business. Preliminary Program

In 1997 werd Hongkong opgeschrikt door H5N1 vogelgriep, waarna het virus zich over het oostelijk halfrond heeft verspreid. Ook mensen raken soms besmet, maar van efficiente overdracht tussen mensen - een voorwaarde om een pandemie te veroorzaken - is geen sprake. In rotterdam zijn experimenten gedaan om te begrijpen hoe uit vogelgriepvirussen nieuwe varianten kunnen ontstaan die wel via de luchtwegen worden overgedragen. 

Ondanks dat de benodigde vergunningen en faciliteiten beschikbaar waren is hierover veel commotie ontstaan. Moet je dit onderzoek wel doen? Hoe kun je dat veilig doen? Moet je alle onderzoeksgegevens vervolgens ook publiceren? Violoog Ron Fouchier geeft antwoord op deze en andere vragen.
