On Monday 30 August a new season of seminars of the Department of Epidemiology started. The seminars cover topics of importance to epidemiologists, biostatisticians, public health researchers and clinical investigators.
The seminars are meant to inform on, and to discuss innovating and debatable matters in the field of epidemiology. The sessions are organised by invited speakers, often from abroad. The organisers of the seminars, Layla de Jonge and Carla Ibrahim, and head of department Prof. Albert Hofman are enthusiastic about the complete programme.
Monday August 30th, Prof. Jacqueline Dekker of the VUMC started with the first seminar, titled “Hoorn Study – Applied Science”. Other upcoming speakers are for example Prof. Peter de Leeuw from Maastricht Medical Center, executive editor of Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Geneeskunde, Assoc. Prof. Tomas Paus from Montreal Neurological Institute and many more.
The seminars are given in English, and are open for all who are interested.
