Introduction
Short introduction of the Genetics Department
Research in the Dept of Genetics is mainly focused on two interconnected topics. The major research interest is in the medical and biological impact of damage to our genes most notably the link with cancer and aging-related diseases. We aim to understand the causes of DNA damage, the molecular mechanisms of genome (in)stability and how this leads to the main medical problems of developed societies world-wide. In addition we investigate the molecular mechanism and role of the biological clock and its connection with aging and DNA damage. Research covers the wide range from single molecule to patient and population.
