The Department of Immunology of the Erasmus University Medical Center (Erasmus MC) was originally founded in 1985 in the University Hospital Rotterdam and as part of the Medical Faculty of Erasmus University.

In 2002, with the merger between the Medical School of Erasmus University and the University Hospital Rotterdam and the formation of Erasmus MC, the Department of Immunology became part of Erasmus MC.

As part of Erasmus MC, one of the largest University Medical Centers in Europe, the Department of Immunology is committed to excellence in Research, Patient Care and Education.

The Department of Immunology:

  • performs cutting edge basic and translational research
  • participates in patient care by performing Diagnostics and supporting Clinical Immunology, and
  • performs a wide range of Educational activities

The Department currently employs about 130 employees and staff, and occupies a space of ~2,300 m2. The Department moved into its current location in the newly built Na and Nb towers in May 2013 and is situated on the 11th and 12th floors. The Department is located on Erasmus MC campus in the center of Rotterdam next to the Museum Park.
