Course Information
OIC courses "Practical introduction to laser scanning microscopy"
These courses are developed by the Optical Imaging Centre (OIC) for first time users to get an overview of different techniques used on the confocal microscopes and to get a basic practical training. After this course an one to one session must be done with Alex Nigg (a.nigg@erasmusmc.nl, tel 44407 or Gert-Jan Kremers, tel. 43578) before independent use of the microscopes is permitted. In this last session you bring your own sample and together with Alex or Gert-Jan you will make an optimal configurations for your sample.
A consent of your workgroup leader is necessary to follow the courses. You can subscribe to the course by sending an email to Gert-Jan Kremers with your name, telephone number, department and name of your workgroup leader and the course you want to do.
"Zeiss LSM510 Confocal Introduction Course"
This course is meant for people who are really going to use the Zeiss confocal microscopes shortly after the course. The course is necessary for all people who want to use the Zeiss confocal microscopes.
The maximum number of participants is 4
This course is given on a regular monthly basis by Gert-Jan Kremers. Please contact Gert-Jan if you want to attend this course (g.kremers at Erasmusmc.nl, tel. 43578).
"Leica Confocal Introduction Course"
This course is meant for people who are really going to use the Leicaconfocal microscopes shortly after the course. The course is necessary for all people who want to use the Leica confocal microscopes.
The course will be given by Gert-Jan Kremers

"Zeiss LSM700 Confocal Introduction Course"
This course is meant for people who are really going to use the Zeiss confocal microscope shortly after the course. The course is necessary for all people who want to use the Zeiss confocal microscopes.

Microscopic Image Analysis: From Theory to Practice
Course date: Second half 2012
Location: Erasmus MC
Introduction
Microscopic images contain much more information than normally is retrieved. Especially time-lapse image data contains a wealth of information. Extracting this information by visual inspection and manual measurement is not only cumbersome but also subjective. Automation of image analysis tasks by using a computer and the right software tools allows for higher efficiency, accuracy, objectivity, reproducibility, and completeness.
During this course, the participant will 1) obtain a deeper theoretical understanding of image analysis methods, and 2) obtain practical experience with image analysis software tools (in particular ImageJ) and learn how to use them intelligently, on their own computer.
Audience
The course is intended for PhD students and Postdocs who would like to deepen their understanding of image analysis methods and learn how to use them. No prior knowledge of image processing is required. The maximum amount of participants is 20.
