The Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics Center at the Erasmus University Medical Center provides mass spectrometry and proteomics services for the local scientific community, as well as for external researchers within The Netherlands and outside.

The research projects in our laboratory are focused on the investigation of protein complex composition at different stages during the cell cycle and under different cellular conditions. In addition, we study posttranslational modifications of proteins and their roles in the dynamics of protein-protein interactions. Furthermore, we are developing tools for quantitative proteomics which will help us in determining relative protein levels between different samples and to get insight into the dynamics of interactions. Finally, we are constructing a suite of software tools for better presentation and comprehensive interpretation of proteomics experiments. The ultimate goal of our research is to understand how cellular processes are controlled at the molecular level.

The Center closely collaborates with the departments of Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Genetics, Clinical Genetics, Neurosciences, and Hematology, as well as other research departments at Erasmus MC and several research groups abroad. Much of this work is done within the context of national and international research schools and consortia like Cancer Genomics Center, Center for Biomedical Genetics, Medisch Genetisch Centrum, Epigenome NoE, Eurythron, Netherlands Proteomics Center and EuTRACC. The Proteomics Center is part of the Erasmus MC Center for Biomics.
