Jurgen Marteijn

Marteijn_200Jurgen A. Marteijn received his Ph.D. from the Radboud University in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, in 2007. The PhD work focused on the role of the ubiquitin proteasome system during blood cell differentiation. Currently, he is an assistant professor at the Department of Genetics, Erasmus Medical Centre, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The central theme of his research is how the complex UV-induced DNA damage response (UV-DDR), including DNA-repair, is regulated by post-translational modifications or protein-protein interactions in the context of chromatin. Using different live-cell microscopy techniques and state-of-the-art proteomics approaches we search for novel regulators of the UV-DDR with special interest in the ubiquitin proteasome system and proteins involved in chromatin biology.

Jurgen is a lecturer of the Genetics course for the Bsc. Nanobiology and received Veni, Horizon, Vidi and Erasmus MC personal fellowships.
