    Loosening corona measures

Erasmus MC will loosen the corona measures as of April 14. It is then no longer mandatory to wear a mouth mask in public areas, except if you have covid symptoms. In the consulting room, care staff will wear an II-R mask if they are within 1.5 meters of the patient. Patients who feel the need will be offered an II-R mask at the reception or outpatient desk.

    Visit

If you would like to visit a patient, please wear an II-R nasal mask when coming within 1.5 meters of the admitted patient (masks are offered at ward entrance in the lounge).

    Erasmus MC retains corona measures

Even after March 23, the measures listed below will remain in place at Erasmus MC. We do this to protect our vulnerable patients.

    • Wear an type II-R mask.
Visitors and supervisors from the age of 9 wear an II-R mask during the entire visit to Erasmus MC. Also in waiting rooms and treatment rooms.
    • Keep 1.5 meters distance from each other, even when visiting a patient.
    • Visitors with COVID complaints stay at home.
Do not visit Erasmus MC if you have symptoms associated with COVID‑19. Stay home and get tested for coronavirus (PCR test). A negative result via a self-test (antigen test) is not valid to visit Erasmus MC.

    • Fill out the Corona questionnaire before your visit.

Our staff will inform you if there are any exceptions to the visiting rules. You can find more information about the measures in the Erasmus MC on the page with information on the corona virus.

    Face masks in Erasmus MC

The rules regarding mask use have been tightened as of January 19, '22. Patients, visitors and supervisors from the age of 9 years wear their own mask during the entire visit to Erasmus MC. Also in waiting rooms, treatment rooms and patient rooms. Cloth masks are not welcome. Anyone wearing a cloth mask will be offered an medical mask by the stewards at the entrances. Also, if you have an increased risk of COVID-19, the stewards will provide you with an II-R nasal mask.

The mask can only be removed briefly when needed for treatment and to eat and drink. Always keep 1.5 meters distance from others when eating or drinking. Patients may remove the mask as soon as they are admitted to a patient room. Always keep 1.5 meters distance from other patients and staff as much as possible. We want to continue to provide safe care to our vulnerable patients.

COVID-19 self-test is not valid in Erasmus MC

Do you have (mild) COVID symptoms and do you want to visit Erasmus MC? Then you need a negative test result via a PCR test.

COVID-19 self-tests (antigen tests) are less accurate than PCR tests and are therefore not used in Erasmus MC. A negative result of your COVID-19 self-test is therefore not valid in our hospital.

You can make an appointment for a PCR test at the GGD via coronatest.nl or by phone via 0800-1202. If, after a negative test result, new symptoms arise or symptoms get worse, a new test must be taken.

    Patients
Patients who have COVID symptoms prior to their appointment or admission should contact the outpatient clinic or department where the appointment is scheduled.

    COVID-19 questionnaire
Furthermore, we still ask all visitors to answer our COVID-19 screening questions before their visit to Erasmus MC. The page 'information on coronavirus' contains more information on the COVID measures in the hospital.
