Variation in Fibrinogen and Other Hemostasis Factors and Arterial Thrombosis

Principal Investigator: Moniek P.M. de Maat, PhD

The de Maat lab studies the role of haemostasis factors in arterial thrombosis. We are interested in understanding the mechanisms underlying the process of arterial thrombosis. Our focus in on the role of fibrinogen and its naturally occurring plasma and genetic variants.
Secondly, we want to elucidate the role of the fibrin and NET matrix structures to the progression of cardiovascular disease and the process of wound healing. Our ultimate goal is to develop individualized matrices that improve wound healing processes, such as ischemia after arterial thrombosis, skin wounds, bone fractures.
