Over deze opleiding
Flexible Bronchoscopic Intubation (FBI) has become a mainstay of difficult airway management in awake, sedated, and anesthetized patients; its use and value is widely accepted and its role is recognized in guidelines for management of both anticipated and unanticipated difficult airways.
Guidelines assume FBI to be a basic skill. Learning curves suggest that true expertise may only be achieved after 45 flexible intubations. Trainees, at the completion of their training, have been shown to have performed only a fraction of these numbers. All in all, experience has shown that confidence in using FBI is low.
In small groups, this comprehensive, hands-on, simulation-based, state-of-the-art MasterClass will provide physicians with the best knowledge, and solid technical skills for effectively managing challenging airways in diverse clinical situations.
Dexterity exercises with the bronchoscope, basic techniques, combined techniques, and techniques in complex situations will be practiced. Specific simulators and latest video-bronchoscope technology will be used to achieve the learning objectives.
This course is intended for local, national and international anesthesia care providers, and emergency medicine, critical care, and ENT physicians, who wish to improve their knowledge, competence, and performance in flexible bronchoscopic intubation techniques.
At the conclusion of this one-day masterclass, participants will be able to:
- Determine proper patient selection and preparation for awake flexible bronchoscopic intubation.
- Perform adequate topical anesthesia of the airway
- Confidently navigate an endoscope for flexible bronchoscopic intubations
Master flexible bronchoscopic intubations in the adult patient in several clinical situations of varying complexity
