  • Dangerous atherosclerosis detected using new technique

    Erasmus MC has found a way of clearly imaging atherosclerosis. Researchers can make very sharp images showing the location of the plaque and what it is made up of using a special catheter that sends light and sound into the coronary artery.

    A computer model will shortly be able to assess whether people with atherosclerosis are at high or low risk of cardiac or cerebral infarctions. This is the finding of research conducted at Erasmus MC's department of Biomedical Technology.

  • Ton van der Steen speaker at Lowlands University

    At the Lowlands festival Coolpolitics organizes Lowlands University to show how great science is. Famous speakers in the past were minister Ronald Plasterk, KNAW head Robbert Dijkgraaf, astronaut Andre Kuipers and former prime minister Ruud Lubbers. This year Ton van der Steen will speak together with philosopher Bas Haring and politician Frits Bolkestein.
