About

Introduction

Dr. Willem Pieter Brouwer completed his medical degree in 2011 at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

During his studies, it became clear to him that he wanted to specialize in liver diseases, and he spent time in the "Liver Unit" at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, England. After completing his medical degree, he conducted research on chronic hepatitis B, including a period at Toronto Western Hospital in Canada.

After completing his doctoral thesis entitled "Individualized Management of Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B", he continued his training as a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Maasstad Hospital, Albert Schweitzer Hospital, St. Antonius Hospital, and Erasmus MC.

Since April 2022, he has been working as a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Erasmus MC. His area of expertise lies in liver diseases, including fatty liver disease and chronic hepatitis B. Additionally, he is a member of the liver transplantation team. Improving the quality of life and survival of patients, and providing the right care in the right place is an important focus for him.

He aims to achieve this by collaborating in a broad team context with colleagues in the hospital and internationally, including scientific research on disease prevention and individualization of patient care.
