Introduction

Guido is a general practitioner in training and PhD student in the field of musculoskeletal disorders.

He completed his medical degree in 2018 at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In 2018, he wrote his master thesis, “Establishing a parathyroid cell-line”, at the Mannstadt Laboratory of the Endocrine Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, United States.

From 2013 to 2015, he worked at the Calcium and Bone-metabolism laboratory, department of Internal Medicine of the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam as a research assistant on his own project “The identification and characterization of possible cancer stem cells in bone metastasis of prostate cancer.”

In March 2019, he started his PhD at the department of General Practice at the Erasmus MC. His PhD project focuses on musculoskeletal disorders in children and adolescents and will feature the use of medical records in the new Rijnmond Gezond database. Currently, using the Rijnmond Gezond database, a retrospective cohort study about Osgood-Schlatter’s Disease (OSD) is being conducted with the aim to investigate the incidence and prevalence and management of OSD in Dutch general practice.

During his PhD project, he will be enrolled at the Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology at the Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences (NIHES).
