About M.O. (Merel) Mol MD
Introduction
My research projects focus on the genetic etiology and disease mechanisms of different types of dementia such as Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementia. Both types of dementia have a strong genetic component, especially when the first symptoms manifest at a young age. By applying different genetic techniques, our aim is to further disentangle the complex genetic background of dementia. This enables us to understand the underlying disease processes and identify targets for the development of therapeutics.
