About

Introduction

Edwin H.G. Oei, M.D, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Musculoskeletal Imaging and Section Chief of Musculoskeletal Radiology in the Department of Radiology & Nuclear Medicine of Erasmus MC, University Medical Center, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He completed his PhD on MRI for traumatic knee injury in 2009. He also holds an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology from the Netherlands Institute for Health Sciences. As the principal investigator of Advanced Musculoskeletal Imaging Research Erasmus MC (ADMIRE), Dr. Oei leads an active research line on advanced imaging for common musculoskeletal disorders, particularly osteoarthritis and sports injuries. His research focuses on multi-parametric MRI, CT and ultrasound imaging of diseased joints with advanced quantitative methods to assess tissues such as cartilage, bone, meniscus, and tendons, as well as pathological joint processes such as inflammation and perfusion changes as potential pathways of disease. His work is directed at technical development, validation and implementation of novel MR techniques in large clinical and population-based studies. Dr. Oei also is the principal coordinator of the Academic Center (ACE) for Molecular and Cellular Imaging at Erasmus MC.
