About dr. B. (Bárbara) Schmitz Abecassis
Introduction
During my PhD I conducted research on advanced MRI techniques for patients with brain tumors. My work was at the intersection of technical and clinical research. After all those years, I realized that I want to work closer to practical application in the clinic. Although I still find research very interesting and important, I am now interested in understanding how research can be used and translated into better healthcare. I am particularly interested in understanding how patients’ experience can be used to improve clinical care.

2017 – 2019: Double degree program Biomedical Sciences and Medical Sciences between Maastricht University and Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine
2019 – 2025: PhD at Leiden University/Leiden University Medical Center
