About W. (Wanda) Tempelaar, MD, PhD

Introduction

As a child and adolescent psychiatrist I am interested in the development of severe mental illness, and which factors contribute to risk and resilience regarding mental illness development. I have investigated risk factors related to psychosis and bipolar  spectrum disorders during my PhD research and continued working on this topic both in research and during my clinical work, initially at an early psychosis outpatient clinic, and currently at a youth outpatient clinic.  

My aim is to improve early recognition and intervention for young people who are prone to develop a severe mental illness such psychotic spectrum or bipolar spectrum disorders.
