Immunedysregulation in atopic skin diseases

Atopic dermatitis and Netherton syndrome might be systemic diseases like primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs).

About our research group/lab

Our research

Background information

This group was formed to learn more about of the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis and Netherton syndrome..These skin diseases are associated with increased risks of infections, asthma, food allergy and allergic rhinitis. This might implicate that atopic dermatitis and Netherton syndrome might also be a systemic disease like primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs).

Overall aim

In spite of the many differences, we are interested in the overlap of atopy between atopic dermatitis, Netherton syndrome and primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs).

We perform this research in close collaboration with the patients (support group). We would like to be able to answer questions from affected children and their parents.

In this way we want to discover strategies to treat these patients.

Research focus areas

We investigate this phenomenon investigating using both genetics and immunology approaches.
