About P.V. (Patrick) Granton, PhD

Introduction

I am an active and accredited clinical physicist at the department of radiotherapy in Erasmus MC.

I am the co-creater of SmART-Plan – a treatment planning system dedicated for pre-clinical research, which is commercially sold and distributed to more than 100 users across the world.

I am the lead physicists at Erasmus MC responsible for the clinical operation of hyperthermia.

My research focus is on developing quality assurance methods in hyperthermia devices, and extracting the potential of hyperthermia treatment planning for patients and the community.

Field(s) of expertise

Preclinical Radiotherapy Research
Stereotactic Radiotherapy
Surface Guided Radiation Research
Hyperthermia Research and Development
European medical device regulation

Education and career

I completed my PhD in 2014 at Maastricht University focused on preclinical irradiation science (thesis: “SmART: Dosimetry and Applications”), following my Masters’ thesis on dual-and-triple energy micro-CT from the University of Western Ontario in London Ontario Canada where I also obtained my bachelor of science with specialization in Astrophysics.

I hold a CAMPEP residency from London Health Sciences Centre and been a registered Medical Physicist from the Dutch Association for Clinical Physicists (NVKF).
