January 7, 2026

Are you a postdoc, assistant professor, associate professor, or young specialist looking to deepen your research skills? Don’t miss this unique opportunity! From March 23-27, 2026, a select group of researchers will have the opportunity to participate in an in-depth and accelerated training in advanced methodology and epidemiology. Registration is now open, and the preliminary program is already available.

The intensive 1-week course covers all essential aspects of advanced methodology and epidemiology, with a strong focus on practical applicability in research. You will learn how to choose the right study design, analyze data, and determine causality. Statistics, data science, machine learning, and AI are also extensively covered. Whether you work in basic, clinical, or population research: due to its broad structure, the course is relevant to researchers from many different backgrounds.

A unique learning experience on location

The program is taught by top lecturers, selected based on their outstanding student evaluations in the Erasmus Summer Programme. In a calm and inspiring setting on the Zeeland coast, you will collaborate with a select group of peers, ensuring an interactive and personal learning experience. With its strong practical orientation, the training provides directly applicable knowledge and methodologies to strengthen your research. This is a unique opportunity to further develop your skills in clinical and scientific research, while contributing to the quality and impact of your department and Erasmus MC as a whole.

Deepen your research knowledge

This course was developed by Prof. Arfan Ikram and Prof. Miranda Schram (Department of Epidemiology) to help researchers strengthen their skills and stay up to date on the latest developments in research methodology and epidemiology, especially now that the quality of scientific research is under pressure. Schram says: "Continuous development and deepening your knowledge are essential in this regard. We designed this course so that participants not only gain new insights, but also receive the necessary tools to elevate their research. Everything you learn can be applied directly to your daily work."

This course is also suitable for NIHES alumni who want to refresh and deepen their knowledge. While the basic principles are familiar, the pace is faster, and the final level exceeds the established NIHES level.
