Introduction
Sara Bousema is a PhD student and general practitioner in training.
She started studying medicine at the Erasmus University Medical Center in 2006. After obtaining her medical degree in 2013, she worked as a resident at the pediatric department of the Maasstad hospital in Rotterdam and at the neonatal- and pediatric intensive care unit of the Radboud Medical Center in Nijmegen. During this period she was involved in research projects which led to the publication of two manuscripts (see pubmed reference). Afterwards she worked in the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Triversum in Alkmaar and at the department of Internal Medicine of the Haaglanden Medical Center.
She started her GP-traineeship at the department of General Practice at the Erasmus Medical Center in September 2016. Her PhD-project focuses on children with asthma aged 6-12 years in primary care. The aim of the study is to determine if protocolled practice nurse-led care for asthmatic children leads to better asthma control as compared to usual care.
