About I.P. (Ivana) Prokic
Introduction
Background and current research interests
Ivana is a medical doctor from Serbia with MSc and DSc diplomas and PhD in genetic epidemiology from Erasmus MC. Her PhD thesis entitled "Multi-omics study of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Related Disorders" focused on the integration of multiple omics layers to disentangle complex pathophysiology of the most common and complex lung disease and its comorbidities. Her work identifies several novel risk factors for COPD and proposes regulatory pathways. It also highlights the need for integrative approach that will hopefully lead to improved clinical care and prevention based on precision medicine.Currently she is continuing her work as a postdoctoral researcher in the Molecular and Systems Epidemiology group of the Epidemiology department of Erasmus MC. She focuses on genomics, metabolomics and microbiomics of liver diseases.
Field(s) of expertise
