Introduction
I’m conducting my PhD research at the Open University of the Netherlands, the Maasstad Hospital and the Erasmus Medical Centre. I’m supervised by Prof. Dr. Ir. D. Dohmen (Open University), Prof. Dr. C. Boersma (Open University), Dr. J. Versmissen (Erasmus MC) and Dr. I. Verberk (Maasstad Hospital). My research is on digital transformation in healthcare. To create new business models for digital health care in the Netherlands, high quality clinical data on the effectiveness of digital health interventions needs to be gathered first. During my PhD, I’m using home blood pressure telemonitoring (HBPT) and digital coaching on lifestyle interventions as a business case for this purpose. I will be coordinating the Telemonitoring and E-Coaching in Hypertension (TECH) trial and will specifically investigate clinical and cost-effectiveness of HBPT combined with E-coaching. Additionally, I will gather data on the effect of HBPT on drug adherence in adults with hypertension.

Education and career
He studied Medicine at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. Following his graduation in 2020 he first worked as a resident in the Internal Medicine department in the Maasstad Hospital (ANIOS). He then worked in the Acute Medicine department in St. Georges Hospital in London. Since his graduation he has worked on multiple research projects within the Intensive Care Unit of the Erasmus MC, supervised by Dr. M. van der Jagt. Since January 2022 he is a resident in internal medicine (AIOS) in the Maasstad Hospital. He has suspended his clinical training temporarily to do a fulltime PhD on digital transformation of healthcare with the Open University of the Netherlands, the Maasstad Hospital and Erasmus MC.
