Introduction

Carolien Teirlinck is a PhD student and general practitioner(GP). She graduated cum laude in 2012 from the Erasmus University in Medicine.

She worked for one year at the department of Internal Medicine of the Maasstad Hospital in Rotterdam.

In September 2013 she started her GP training at the department of General Practice at the Erasmus MC. In September 2014 she combined this training with the start of her PhD-project. She graduated as GP in Januari 2019 and is working at two practices in Rotterdam at the moment.

Her research is mainly focused on the effect and cost-effectiveness of exercise therapy in addition to usual primary care in patients with osteoarthritis of the hip. She presented the result of the randomized controlled trial STERK with this specific subject at the OARSI World Congress on osteoarthritis in Paris in April of 2014 and these results were published in Osteoarthritis and Cartilage.
