About Dr. B.E. (Babs) Verstrepen

Introduction

Babs Verstrepen (1971) is a researcher within the department of Viroscience.

After graduation Babs started her research at the intersection of virology and immunology in non-human primates, with particular interest for virus dissemination and vaccine development. In 2016 she received a PhD from ErasmusMC for her research at Biomedical Primate Research Centre on Chronic hepatitis C virus infections in chimpanzees.

In 2022 she joined the groups of Dr Geurts-vanKessel and Dr Rory de Vries within the department of Viroscience. Her current research focuses on immunity within well-defined cohorts against (newly) emerging viruses. By bridging basic and applied research her work contributes to Viroscience’s function as a reference lab for several (international) organizations.
