About our research group/lab

Our research

Acute (postoperative) and chronic pain treatment (Lonneke Staals)

This research focus on various aspects and techniques of treatment of acute (postoperative) pain, for example after orthopedic and abdominal surgery in children, and the prevention of chronification of postoperative pain.

Perioperative (neuro-) monitoring and complications of anesthesia (Frank Weber, Jurgen de Graaff, Lonneke Staals)

This research focuses on the development and evaluation of (neuro-) monitoring techniques to evaluate anesthetic sedation and pain during and after anesthesia. Furthermore, we investigate the effects of anesthesia at early age on brain.

Obstetric anesthesiology (Caroline van der Marel)

The research focus on the peripartum treatment of pain and the treatment of pain after cesarean section. Furthermore, we investigate the various medical aspects of peripartum blood loss and anesthesiologic aspects of high risk pregnancies.
