The theme of sustainability has become an integral part of daily practice at Erasmus MC.

As far as we are concerned, the sustainable route is the only way forward: to ensure future-proof healthcare and a livable planet, we must minimize our use of resources, our energy consumption, and our environmental impact as quickly as possible. Impact healthcare sector

The healthcare sector contributes to the health of our society, but at the same time has a negative impact on the health of our planet: healthcare facilities are responsible for over 7 percent of CO2 emissions. This has to change, and fast. That's why Erasmus MC is committed to sustainable healthcare.
