TTO Highlights 2025

Despite of growing instability in 2025, our Technology Transfer Office remained steadfast in its mission. Through collaboration, innovation, and a focus on impact, we made solid contributions that strengthened valorization, helped to advanced science, and supported the translation of research into societal benefit. We are incredibly proud to present some of 2025 Highlights.

Valorization & Entrepreneurships

Key Highlights:

  • Established 5 new spin-off companies: NeOncoFRAx, LYLA, Edups, Neollie, Pepper Therapeutics
  • Awarded with ASTP IMPACT award for the best KTO deal 2025 (anDREa research environment)
  • Erasmus MC spin-offs and projects secured 16 million investments to advance innovation and impact with 10 million landmark investments received by Pan Cancer T
  • Participation of Erasmus MC projects at venture building competitions Venture Challenge (CytoBas, HomeRUN, OncoChem, Matriarch), Academic Start Up Competition (Ysvogel) and HIHR (AcceleraDx, Myonovum, OncoChem, Matriarch)
  • Hosted 2 successful editions of Entrepreneurship Essentials and Pitching Skills Training

Community & Collaborations

Key Highlights:

  • Hosted Inter-UMC Valorization Legal Counsel Meeting (JOAZ), with participation of Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) to promote adoption of the Access and Affordability Principles (AAP) facilitating social impact and implementation of UMCNL Licensing Principles
  • Launched South Holland MedTech Incubator Program with ECE, Yes!Delft and unlock_Leiden fostering regional entrepreneurship
  • Hosted Healthy Ideas, Healthy Returns (HIHR), NL and BE initiative aimed to enable connections of academia and investors and to support innovations. Erasmus MC TTO supported pitches and quick fire session of prospective Erasmus MC spin-off companies Matriarch, OncoChem, Myonovum, AcceleraDx 
  • Innovation Funding: Gap funding to Erasmus MC Innovative projects through ErasSupport and Medtech vouchers
  • Facilitated research funding: NWO TTW Demonstrator’s grant (TROVARIO), KWF Proof-of-Concept (AcceleraDx)

Awareness & Outreach

Key Highlights:

  • Awareness Sessions across Erasmus to strengthen visibility and understanding of impact and valorization path at Erasmus MC
  • Employee Onboarding: TTO Breakfast sessions for new staff, fostering early engagement
  • Sharing Experiences: Delivered tailored content focusing on IP, entrepreneurship and licensing during TTO Lunch Lectures sessions
  • Contributed to retreats, symposia and other events facilitating engaging conversations with the Erasmus MC innovative community about impact, open science and innovation
  • International Relations: Presented TTO to international delegations from China, Brazil, S. Korea showcasing innovation and valorization paths at Erasmus MC
  • Investor Engagement: Presented pitch deck portfolio to investors showcasing Erasmus MC innovations, attracting strategic funding, and accelerating pathways to societal impact
  • Healthcare Ecosystem: Represented Erasmus MC at healthcare events and conferences, strengthening industry ties (MedFit, BioFit, Innovation for Health, LSH conference, EUHA during Innovation Week in Barcelona).
