HPV vaccination for men and women aged 19 to 26 years

February 23, 2023

GGD Rotterdam-Rijnmond's vaccination post in the Passage is now starting HPV vaccinations for young men and women aged 19 to 26. The post is open weekly on Thursdays from 9am to 4pm.

Debby Russel, vaccination project manager at GGD Rotterdam-Rijnmond: 'The vaccination post for covid-19 at Erasmus MC is one of the best-visited vaccination centers in Rotterdam. We hope that opening this location for HPV vaccinations will make it easier for young people to get the vaccination.'

HPV virus

The HPV virus causes cancer in nearly 1,100 women and 400 men every year. The virus is associated with six types of cancer including cervical, penile and vaginal cancers. HPV vaccination protects against these cancers. The HPV vaccination has been part of the National Vaccination Program since 2010 and all children aged 10 years and over receive an invitation for vaccination.

Without an appointment

In 2023, all men and women born between 1996 and 2003 can get an HPV vaccination free of charge. They have received a call for this from the RIVM and can drop by without an appointment. You can make an appointment via the website hpvafspraak.nl, then choose date, place and time. You can also call, of course, 0800-1608.
