Status: Ongoing (March 2019 - 2024)

Gain more insight in the prevalence, incidence, management and long-term outcomes of musculoskeletal complaints in children and adolescents.

What we do

About our project

Background
Musculoskeletal problems are one of the most reported complaints in general practice. Often these complaints already start at a young age, are persistent and already have a large impact on their quality of life. The general aim of this project is to gain more insight in the prevalence, incidence, management and long-term results of MSK complaints in children and adolescents.

Hypothesis
What is the prevalence, incidence, management and long-term results of musculoskeletal complaints in children and adolescents.

Methods
We will answer these questions by using the Rijnmond Gezond database. The Rijnmond Gezond database consist of about 250.000 anonymized patient records of general practices in the region of Rotterdam. The database provides us with the opportunity to for example see how many patients present with a specific complaint, at what age they present, what treatment they receive and how long the complaints persists, how many times the patient return to the GP and the distribution of the complaints through age.
