Research project

Work-related musculoskeletal disorders of the limbs

Status: Ongoing (December 2019 - 2021)

Physical and psychosocial work-related risk factors for the development of musculoskeletal disorders of the limbs.

What we do

About our project

Background
Activity-related soft-tissue disorders (ASTDs) of the limbs represent a burdensome group of health conditions in the occupational environment. This project aims at identifying the most important risk factors for ASTDs of the upper and lower limb will inform the development of more targeted prevention and treatment strategies to better tackle these disorders in the work environment.

Methods
Four systematic reviews will be conducted for shoulder, elbow, wrist/hand and lower limb ASTDs, respectively. Meta-analyses will be considered when there is sufficient homogeneity among studies on design, outcome and exposure definition.

Our research focus

Primary outcome
The primary outcome is the association between physical work-related risk factors and the incidence/prevalence of predefined musculoskeletal disorders of the limbs.

Secondary outcome
The secondary outcome is the association between psychosocial work-related risk factors and the incidence/prevalence of predefined musculoskeletal disorders of the limbs.
