About Marte van der Bijl

Introduction

As a PhD student at the department of Internal Medicine, my research focuses on the underrepresentation of women in cardiovascular disease trials. I aim to develop tools for inclusive recruitment and new methods for analyzing sex and gender differences in treatment efficacy and safety. Additionally, I study the follow-up care for women who experienced severe preeclampsia during pregnancy, a condition that increases their risk of cardiovascular disease. This research, conducted at Erasmus MC, involves a cohort of 1200 patients and includes a biobank, cardiovascular health measurements, and self-reported lifestyle data.
