Introduction

Drs. Reinier van Linschoten is a post-doctoral researcher in the field of technical innovation in general practice. He finished his master’s degrees in Health Economics, Policy and Law (cum laude, 2016), Medicine (2019) and Health Sciences (cum laude, 2022). He conducted his PhD research at the department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the Franciscus Gasthuis & Vlietland and the department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the department of Public Health of the Erasmus MC between 2019 and 2024. His PhD research focused on value-based healthcare for inflammatory bowel disease, aiming to improve the (cost-)effectiveness and quality of healthcare.

His current research focuses on technical innovations that may improve general practice. Examples are how digital care technologies should be evaluated, as well assessing their effectiveness. Moreover, he has a special interest in the use of artificial intelligence and natural language processing to improve both healthcare and research. Besides his work as a researcher he works as a resident not in training in a general practice in Rotterdam.
