About C.S. (Christof) Schulz, PhD Student
Introduction
I am researching the medical decision-making of clinicians with AI-tools. The goal of my research is to examine how new technology could be designed and implemented for improved diagnostic procedures in the future.
At the current time, I am concerned with researching the influence of AI-diagnoses on the medical decision-making of clinicians when the human has the agency in the final decision-making. In this line of research, we aim to define which factors are relevant in the process of forming clinical decisions with AI-support. We are specifically looking into use-cases of skin-cancer diagnosis with AI-tools.
Field(s) of expertise
- Human-computer interaction: Researching the interaction of clinicians with AI-tool output in experimental studies
- Medical decision-making: Analysis of the medical decision-making when AI-support is present, modelling and predicting the medical decision-making, researching different factors that could play a role in the decision-making
- AI: Use existing AI models or simulate AI output to investigate the interaction between clinicians and AI under experimental conditions
- Human-centered design: Apply methodology and knowledge from human factors engineering to design and evaluate systems that are tailored to clinicians’ needs
