Education and career
Mirjam started her research career during her Pharmacy study at the University of Groningen. After finishing her master project of in-vitro work in respiratory pharmacology at the University of Melbourne, Australia, Mirjam wanted to continue in a more clinical field of research and daily practice. She obtained her master in Pharmacy cum laude from the University of Groningen in 2013 and started working as a pharmacist and PhD-candidate at the Wilhelmina Hospital Assen (WZA). She combined a function as pharmacist-on-duty with her research on somatic monitoring of psychiatric patients, including the initiation of the MOPHAR monitoring program at the outpatient departments of Mental Health Services Drenthe. She obtained her PhD in 2018, while working as a hospital pharmacist in training at the Erasmus Medical Centre in Rotterdam and the Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis in Delft – her current position. She continues her research in psychiatric patients with a focus on therapeutic drug monitoring and pharmacogenetics.

Teaching activities
Teaching responsibilities include supervising master students and lecturing on a regular basis.
