Introduction

Anne Voor in ’t holt is currently an assistant professor at the department of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. Her research focuses mainly on acquisition and transmission of healthcare-related pathogens in patients and the hospital environment.

Education and career

After finishing her secondary education at the Lambert Franckens College in Elburg in 2006, she started studying nursing at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences in Zwolle. After her final internship at the North Karelia Central Hospital in Joensuu, Finland, she also entered the pre-master program Health Sciences at the VU University in Amsterdam. In 2010, she obtained her bachelor degree in nursing, and finished the pre-master. After the pre-master program, she started a MSc program in Health Sciences and specialized in infectious diseases and public health. For her MSc internship she wrote a literature review about multidrug-resistant tuberculosis and streptomycin resistance at the Institute for Global Health and Development, Academic Medical Center, Amsterdam. After finishing her MSc degree in 2011, she started a second MSc program in clinical epidemiology at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam. During her final internship at the department of MMID at the Erasmus MC she wrote a systematic review and meta-analysis about carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa. After obtaining her second MSc degree in 2012, she started working at the MMID, and started her PhD trajectory. Anne Voor in ‘t holt defended her PhD thesis in 2018, and became an assistant professor in 2021. Currently, she supervises 3 PhD students as ‘co-promotor’ and as daily supervisor.

Teaching activities

Anne Voor in ‘t holt teaches a master course about acquisition of multidrug-resistant microorganisms in relation to travelling. 

Scholarships, grants, and awards

Anne Voor in ’t holt received the Westerdijk Award for best PhD thesis, category Clinical Microbiology at the Scientific spring meeting KNVM & NVMM.

She was a co-applicant on various national and international grants, and is currently the project leader of the SCIP-COVID-19 study, funded by ZonMw (2022-2024).
