From 1 May digital invitations for outpatient appointments

April 25, 2022

Do you have an appointment with us at the outpatient clinic? You will receive the invitation digitally from 1 May 2022. We do this to save paper, costs and time. It also provides a clear overview of all your appointments and corresponding information in My Erasmus MC.

As soon as we schedule a new appointment for you, you will receive an e-mail with a reference link to the patient portal My Erasmus MC. The appointment letter and associated information are available there. In this way, you will quickly be informed about current appointments at Erasmus MC.

900,000 letters

Every year we send out about 900,000 outpatient appointment letters. This requires a lot of work from different employees. It costs a lot of paper, envelopes and postage. And sending appointment letters by post is fairly slow: it takes a few days before the letter is in the letterbox.

The advantage of digitally sending appointment letters is that you receive the letter immediately. It also makes an important contribution to our sustainability goals.

New standard

Sending appointment letters digitally will become standard practice from 1 May onwards, unless you do not want it or if it is not possible for some other reason. In My Erasmus MC, you can check whether your personal email address is known. Here you can also communicate your e-mail address to us or change it.

DigiD

Erasmus MC believes it is important to keep up with digital possibilities and developments. To view your own medical file (via My Erasmus MC), you will need a DigiD. This also applies to children under treatment at the Sophia Children's Hospital.

Do you or your child not yet have a DigiD? Then you can apply for one via the DigiD website. Keep in mind that applying for a DigiD takes 3 working days.
