New site
The new university medical centre began operations from its new site in May 2018. The new location is the base from which we will continue to provide the standard of care that may be expected of a university hospital, to train the physicians of the future and to undertake cutting-edge medical research. The Erasmus MC Cancer Institute is also housed on the new site. As a 21st-century university medical centre, we are prepared for whatever the future may bring. This means, for example:
- accommodating all patients in single rooms with private bathrooms;
- making sure there’s lots of natural light and greenery;
- offering everyone a new home that is both sustainable and safe.
Demolition
Some of our old buildings are now vacant. These can no longer be used efficiently: they will be either demolished or renovated during the years to come.
