Sniffing against Covid-19

Scientists have developed a virus inhibitor that blocks SARS-CoV-2 spread between ferrets. It can be developed into a nasal spray that may also protect people against the coronavirus. "As long as we are not sure whether vaccines will rid us of the virus, we should also focus on other means."

The world is eagerly awaiting the end of the Covid-19 pandemic and wants nothing more than to get back to a normal life. Hope is now mainly pinned on vaccines. "But it is not certain that the vaccinations will help us get rid of the virus," say Rik de Swart and Rory de Vries of the Erasmus MC.
