About

Introduction

Tryntsje Fokkema is a PhD-student working in the field of running injuries. She studied Human Movement Sciences at the University of Groningen from 2008 to 2013.

For her master thesis she examined the relationship between training and exercise physiological measures in runners.

After her graduation, Tryntsje had several research and teaching jobs.

Her last job before starting her PhD was at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, where she combined a study on the use of activity trackers in health care with supervising student projects.

In June 2016, Tryntsje started her PhD at the Department of General Practice. The focus of her research is the prognosis and prevention of injuries in recreational runners. During her PhD, she performed a large RCT on the effectiveness of a multifactorial injury prevention program. Currently she is working on a follow-up study on running injury prevention.
