Science Gallery International and Erasmus MC will join forces to develop Science Gallery Rotterdam.
The goal is to bring science closer to society by means of interacting with Rotterdam residents and using a combination of art, technique and design. The Gallery will offer free pop-up exhibitions and events.
Science Gallery is the world’s only university network dedicated to public engagement with science and art. It consists of leading universities united around a singular mission: to ignite creativity and discovery where science and art collide.
Science Gallery Rotterdam will develop new ways of collaboration between scientists and creative arts as well as educational programs to communicate about science and healthcare at Erasmus MC. The Rotterdam Gallery is collaborating with the Rotterdam Center of Fine arts and the Rotterdam Museum. In the years to come, Erasmus MC will look for a permanent location within the organization for the Science Gallery.
Dean Hans van Leeuwen is pleased with the collaboration. “Erasmus MC is proud of establishing Science Gallery Rotterdam in collaboration with local and international partners. The exciting format of combining research with the imaginative power of art is a great way to present our scientific work to society and to strengthen our communication with local communities. This will bring the wonders of science to young people stimulating them to consider a career in science.”
