About

Introduction

I started working as a PhD candidate for the department of paediatric gastroenterology at the Sophia Children's Hospital, Rotterdam, in January 2020. I am involved in the Horizon2020 funded PIBD-SETQuality study, under supervision of Prof. Hankje Escher, Dr. Lissy de Ridder and Prof. Janneke Samson. Within the PIBD-SETQ Safety Registry we study rare and severe complications in paediatric IBD, aiming to characterize these complications and identify potential IBD risk factors. Specific interest goes to venous thromboembolic events in paediatric IBD. Within the prospective observational PIBD-SETQuality inception cohort, I am involved in coordinating the 25 participating centers, and collecting and analyzing real-word data of over 700 newly-diagnosed PIBD patients. This research focuses on outcomes of the disease and therapy response and combines clinical and translational data to find predictors of disease course.
