(Influenza) Immuno-virology

The immuno-virology group of the department of Virology is lead by prof. dr. Guus F. Rimmelzwaan. The group is focusing on virus-specific immunity induced by infection or vaccination, in particular to influenza viruses. Special points of interest are cellular immunity, immune correlates of protection, viral immune evasion strategies and development of improved influenza vaccines. In addition, the group is responsible for the activities as National Influenza Center, dealing with influenza virus surveillance and antigenic characterization of influenza viruses circulating in the Netherlands.
